Friends and Supporters,
House
vote to overturn part of the Native American Human Remains & Sacred
Sites Act.
In some of those Emails I neglected to ask you to
We have been made aware that the Senate version of House bill, S. 2845, passed without an amendment waiving the federal requirements relating to Remains & Sacred Sites. That means that, while it is important to contact your Senators, it is also important to take other steps to insure that Congress does not allow the desecration of our history and our culture.
Below is a list of House and Senate members who will take up the Bill in conference, and will decide if the amendment is included. It is critical that we contact these individuals. They will make the decision. If these Representatives and Senators take a stand against it, it will not be included. Contact them.
Below the Conference Committee information is contact information for Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. Follow the directions, and tell them your opinion.
Below that is a voting list of who voted for (and against) this amendment. If your Representative voted FOR the amendment, and you think that is a MISTAKE, let them know that. Let them know you and all your friends and family will hold them accountable on Election Day.
Remember, it is important that the Senate oppose this strongly even if they didn't vote to include the amendment. DON'T FORGET TO CONTACT YOUR SENATORS!
House Republicans: Peter Hoekstra (MI), Henry Hyde (IL), Duncan Hunter (CA), Davide Dreier (CA) and James Sensenbrenner (WI)

the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs
Contact the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and urge the Chairpersons, Senators Campbell (Republican & and a Native American)) and Inouye (Democrat), to weigh in on the Senate Conferees. The Committee's number is 202-224-2251. Just ask for a staff who would handle these issues for the majority and minority side. Ask them to pass along your views to the Chairpersons.
